Project Officer
Maya Dangaspitiya, from Kurunegala, is a dedicated advocate for social welfare with a strong background in sociology and community service. She completed her post-primary education at Maliyadeva Girls' College and holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the National Institute of Social Development (NISD), with a specialization in supporting people with disabilities. Maya joined ECPAT/PEaCE as a Project Officer in October 2024. Previously, Maya worked with the National HIV Prevention Program as a virtual campaign worker, focusing on the welfare of female workers in the Gampaha district. In this role, she provided essential HIV/AIDS testing counseling to her target community.
Maya has also volunteered at detention centres for youth on probation in Kurunegala, supported disabled children through programmes at Wattala Prithipura, and served as a volunteer at Maharagama Hospital. Additionally, she coordinated projects for Sarvodaya in the Gampaha district. Maya is currently pursuing a Diploma in Counseling at the University of Kelaniya to further strengthen her skills in supporting vulnerable communities. In her free time, she enjoys reading, listening to music, creating videos, and travelling.
