Writer
Location:

with the possibility of renewal
Reports to: The Executive Director, and will
work closely with the Communication Officer and the Child Advocacy Coordinator.
Organisation
PEaCE (Protecting Environment and
Children Everywhere) ECPAT Sri Lanka (www.ecpat.lk)
is an NGO working exclusively to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. It
began in 1991 as part of ECPAT International and has been dedicated to this
cause for over 30 years. It provides a range of activities, including awareness
programmes, training, advocacy, research, legal aid and counselling services.
PEaCE aims to protect and promote the rights of the child and create an
environment in which the safety and security of every child are assured.
Job
Summary
The content writer will
play a crucial role in communicating the impactful work that our organisation
does and engaging our audience with compelling stories and information. The
content writer will have to inspire and inform, creating meaningful connections
between our organisation and the stakeholders, including the community we serve
and present or potential donors. A detailed description is given below.
Responsibilities
§ Create informative content
for various platforms such as websites, blogs, social media and email
campaigns.
§ Analyse the data gathered
via media monitoring and produce accurate and informative content for the
monthly newsletter.
§ Write high-quality,
well-structured content for reports and project proposals that is clear,
concise, grammatically correct, and aligns with the organisation’s tone and
voice.
§ Assist the staff in writing
concept notes whenever needed.
§ Edit and proofread content
to ensure accuracy, consistency and adherence to the organisation’s standards.
§ Collaborate with the staff members
to develop content strategies and brainstorm new ideas.
§ Optimise content for search
engines by incorporating keywords and implementing SEO best practices.
§ Meet deadlines set by the
management. This involves managing your time effectively and prioritising
tasks.
§ Undertake any other
responsibilities assigned by the management.
Minimum
Requirements / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s
Degree, preferably in Journalism, Communications, English, Public Relations,
Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum of
3-5 years of professional writing experience.
- Prior
experience in writing for NGOs, charities, or advocacy groups is highly
desirable.
- Experience
in producing content related to children’s rights, human trafficking, or sexual
exploitation is a strong plus.
- Exceptional
command of English with strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Ability to
write clear, concise, and compelling content for diverse audiences.
- Strong
research skills, including the ability to source and verify information from
credible sources.
- Familiarity
with SEO best practices and keyword research tools.
- Ability to
translate complex statistical data and research findings into accessible
content.
- Ability to
work collaboratively with team members, stakeholders, and external partners.
