After months of lockdown which resulted in halting of activities, PEaCE was able to resume with our work starting the month of November 2021. Due to the precedent situation, certain programmes need to be done online, but we were fortunate enough to be able to reach communities in person despite the pandemic situation, adhering to the authorities’ health guidelines all the while. Following are the series of awareness programmes conducted in Gampaha district during the month of November 2021. These programmes were organised by the officials of the Department of Probation and Childcare Services. In all these programmes the definition of a child, rights of the child, child abuse, sexual abuse and exploitation, online child sexual exploitation and abuse were discussed as well as measures how to protect children from all forms of violence.
On the 13th of November 2021, an awareness programme on Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse was held at Bopagama Kanishta Vidyalaya in Attanagalla, Gampaha district. The programme was organized by the Child Rights Protection Officer of the Gampaha district with the Grama Seva Officer of Attanagalla and was participated by children, youth and parents in Attanagalla.
Another awareness programme on Online Sexual Exploitation and Abuse was held in Dompe, Gampaha district on the 14th of November 2021. The programme was held at Horagolla Community Centre with the participation of children, youth and parents as well as Cadet members and members of the United Children’s club of the area. Total of 100 participants attended the programme. It was organized by the CRPO of the Gampaha district.
On the 18th of November 2021, an awareness program on Online Sexual Exploitation and Abuse was held at the divisional secretariat of Biyagama, Gampaha district. It was conducted with the participation of about 100 children and youth in Biyagama, organized by the CRPO of Gampaha district and the divisional secretariat of Biyagama.

Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse was held at the Gampaha District
Secretariat, Gampaha district, on the 19th of November 2021. It was held with
the participation of the members of the District Children’s Council, parents and
youth of the district. PEaCE was also fortunate enough to be present at the
awards ceremony for the winners of the Children’s Day Competition 2021
organized by the Gampaha District Secretariat and the launch of the Children’s
Magazine. The event was graced by two
Additional District Secretaries of Gampaha.
The fifth of the series of awareness programs in Gampaha district was held at the Naavana Temple in Divulapitiya. It was organised by the CRPO of the Gampaha district with the participation of about 75 children and youth. At the program, children and youth were made aware of child rights, different forms of child exploitation and abuse as well as online child sexual exploitation and abuse.
